A Joy Filled Life
Something that we cannot see has slowed us for a while,
It’s helping us to stop and contemplate
The challenge of our lives on pause; the value of a smile:
Right now we simply have to stop and wait.
Why did I take for granted all the simple things of life,
All the little things I did from day to day?
Why did I never notice all the joy I could derive
From the people I encountered on my way?
It’s just that life got busy and I never took the time
To appreciate the treasures close at hand,
Like the pleasure of a greeting or to feel your hand in mine,
Or to do the things that I had always planned.
For now with social distancing we keep ourselves at bay
From our families and friends who mean so much.
It goes against our way of life to have to live this way
And lose the comfort of a human touch.
But we will dance and sing again,
We know that we can bring again
The passion to begin again
The ordinary simple things in life.
