Darkness Covid 19

The longest day the longest night

Has happened as I make this call

I don’t feel well I say and dimly recall

Doc telling me an appt will be made

The dreaded Covid test I must take

With a heavy heart I await the simple text

And take myself along terrified and quake

At the sight of a strange creature in PPE gear

Who does nose and throat swab  Oh the fear

The wait is on, homeward bound,  self isolation

A feeling of  loneliness, anguish and sheer desolation

As I sit and wait, pondering the total outcome for family to consult

The text arrives, I have never felt so positive about a negative result

We  are safe for now as happiness and joy creeps back into my world
