A Millennium open-air spectacle in Kells, celebrating Kilkenny's heritage and people. Featuring the play 'The Ballad of Rory Roe' written by Ken Bourke. <br /><br />The grounds of Kells Priory were transformed into a medieval settlement for this specatular pageant celebrating the history of Ossory through music, drama and theatre.

In 1996 Barnstorm embarked on a 16-month project with playwright Ken Bourke and the people of Castlecomer to devise and present a community play unique to that community, reflective of its rich history and its people. <br /><br /><strong>The 'Comer Story</strong> was presented in Castlecomer Community Hall in 1997 and in the Watergate Theatre in 1998. The play was written in collaboration with the people of Castlecomer.

Curriculum Play Live (2017): The Plough and the Stars by Sean O' Casey

<strong>The Plough and the Stars</strong> is set during the turbulence of the Easter 1916 rebellion. It premiered in 1926 at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. The first two acts take place in 1915, looking forward to the liberation of Ireland, and the last two acts are set during 1916's Easter Rising.<br /><br />The second in a series of Leaving Certificate curriculum plays, providing young people in the southeast with the opportunity to see their Leaving Cert drama brought to life on stage.<br /><br /><strong><em>Curriculum Play Live</em></strong> is a joint Barnstorm and Watergate initiative.

Under the auspices of Barnstorm Theatre Company, Kilkenny Youth Theatre was revived in 2007. <strong>KoHL</strong> is their 6th production since then.<br /><br />With a cast of sixteen young people, the play's setting of New York during the Prohibition years delighted audiences with gangsters, molls, illegal booze, a Private Investigator with integrity, and a newshound thristy for a story. <br /><br /><em><strong>KoHL</strong> </em>was performed with the permission on NAYD (National Association of Youth Drama) as part of their 'New Stage' programme. Kilkenny Youth Theatre is a proud member of NAYD.
